Sergeant Greg Howarth from the Chandler Police Department presented a program on the Chandler P.D. crime prevention unit and services. He was introduced by Roger Bonngard.
Sgt. Greg thanked Chandler Horizon for its support of the Explorers post, which is designed for youth aged 14-20 under the leadership of John Somerville. The handler post has 62 members, the largest in the west.
Sgt. Greg taught at Mesa Community College for 10 years and he also taught at Chandler Gilbert C.C. Robin Valenzuela and Dan Chavarre work with him on the crime prevention unit. During the 90s, there were seven officers in the unit, but programs, including D.A.R.E., were cut.
