He also said that Rotary has been the greatest experience of his life.He noted that many people have been victimized by scams originated in his native land, and that Nigeria is depicted as a country of fraud. Business is left in the hands of crooks. But, he said, Nigerians for the most part are peace-loving people.
 
Nigeria, which is about the size of Texas and California combined, has 150 million people, most of them under-educated. Most of them grow their own food. Sunday told us how the country was ruled by the British from the 1400s to 1960. There were years of infiltration and exploitation. 
 
Missionaries came from America in the fifties and started teaching people new ways. They started the Church of Christ. Individual Americans have helped Nigeria as well as other countries through missionaries. Sunday wanted to be more like the missionaries. He went to high school and then to college in the United States.
 
Nigeria is a high producer of petroleum. Oneeighth of the oil imported by the U.S. comes from Nigeria. However, oil is owned by the government and there is much corruption. His state, one of 39 in Nigeria, is an oil producer. He noted that every amenity is available in his state but it is controlled by rich and powerful politicians and thieves.
